Thanks for the considerations @dan-s1 and @EndzeitBegins. I do appreciate the effort to leave things cleaner than you found them, but in this case, I think it is important to keep the PR focused on the bug fix. The main reason in this particular case is that the fix needs to be applied to the support branch. That will probably require a separate pull request either way, but in terms of keeping the changes focused on the actual fix, separating out the syntax improvements would be helpful. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
