David Handermann commented on NIFI-14066:
-----------------------------------------

For clarity, the interoperability should be a function of the input and output
values. The existing Sensitive Properties Algorithm names are specific to NiFi,
and NiFi application properties in particular, so they do not serve as a
general example of an interoperable standard outside of that particular use
case. Any solution should use a more formalized protocol, preferably something
that already exists, so that systems outside of NiFi can encrypt or decrypt as
needed.

> As a dataflow manager, I would love to use a processor such as UpdateRecord
> to encrypt/decrypt fields in my record objects. I could provide the key
> (preferably via sensitive context parameter) and the algorithm.
