Ok it appears you're not setting the property value for 'remote path' and as a
result this is returning a null path which then gets evaluated and creates an
NPE. We should instead place an empty string there. The previous library
interpreted null as meaning to use the default home dir whereas this lib seems
to want empty string to do the same.
