          Issue ID: 125490
        Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Writer 4.1.1 very slow with large images, locks up
with zoom out on 2 page view
           Product: Writer
           Version: 4.1.0
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Windows 7
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: major
          Priority: P3
         Component: ui
          Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
          Reporter: john.h...@yahoo.co.uk

Writer 4.1.1 is very slow to respond with an 130 MB odt file containing 26 x
~5MB JPG images. Rendering is slow which makes scrolling very slow. When
2-page display is chosen, and zoom ( - ) is used, when zoom gets below 35%,
Writer hangs. Save takes 20 seconds (2 x 2.6GHz, SSD).
swriter CPU limits at 50% suggesting it uses only 1 CPU in a multi CPU system.

Steps to reproduce

1 New A4 document, add 30 line table
2 Drag a JPG photo and place in a table cell. (Photos are from a 14 Mpixel
camera (4320 x 2340 pixels), each JPG is circa 5MB)
3 Repeat for 26 different photos - odt is typically 130 MBytes

4 Scroll - slow compared to scrolling through a PDF
5 Set to 2-page view (not book). Zoom out with ( - ) until Writer hangs, with
swriter taking 50% CPU.

Tools > Options > OpenOffice > Memory was default (20MB, 20 items) but
increasing 20 > 100MB and 20 > 40 items has no effect.

Windows 7 64 bit, 2 x 2.6 GHz Intel, 4 GB, Crucial 240 GB Solid State Disk
(very fast!).

I can upload odt to mediafire if required. Note it is essential to use
different photos as Writer saves just one photo and references it multiple
times if the images are identical.
