Vicki <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] --- Comment #6 from Vicki <[email protected]> --- Apache Open Office 4.1.1 A000411m6 (Build:9775) Rev. 1617669 2014-08-13 09:06:54 (Mi, 13 Aug 2014) Windows Vista Home Premium 3.00GB RAM Pentium ® Dual Core CPU [email protected] Dell Inspirion 15 Retesting Original Post 1) Click on ‘Presentation’ in Open Office 4 Main Menu 2) Program opens and shows (by default) Title Slide 3) In the navigation bar I select Insert>Movie & Sound 4) A pop-up box appears showing my computer files 5) I search for an .mp3 file and select it 6) I get an error message “The format of the selected file is not supported.” 7) I click “okay”. (The .mp3 file I had selected was 4.25MB and a bit rate of 128kbps) 8) I repeat steps 3-5 9) The file I select to insert is .mp3, 8.23MB with a 192kbps bit rate. 10) No error message appears. 11) A square gray box with speaker/sound appears which I move to the bottom of my slide 12) On the navigation bar I select Slide Show>Slide Show to start presentation 13) As presentation begins, music starts 14) I return to navigation bar and select Insert>Select Slide 15) A new slide appears in the left preview pane 16) In the Properties>Layout pane on the right I select Title and 2 Content Layout 17) I click on slide to add Title and type in text 18) I click left content and enter text 19) I click right content and enter text 20) I click back into the left content box and then go to the navigation bar I select Insert>Movie & Sound 21) Pop-up box appears allowing me to search my files 22) The file I select to insert is .mp3, 3.68MB with 128 kbps bit rate. 23) No error message. 24) I click the right content box and repeat steps to insert sound. 25) I attempt to add the .mp3 file that I had received an error message at the start of test report 26) I receive an error message. Additional Notes: -Had three IE Windows open in the background during initial test, repeated test with IE closed -I recopied the sound file I was receiving the error message on to my computer but still received error message even though the file played in Windows Media Player. -I converted the .mp3 file to .wav and received error message -I opened a blank slide in Microsoft Power Point 2007 – both the .mp3 and .wav file that gave me error messages in Impress worked in Power Point. -Created presentation with 10 slides and tried to add the file that produced the error message but couldn’t no matter what slide I made the attempt on. -Multiple attempts to start presentation with a different slide layout other than default and add file produce an error message when I attempted to add file that was giving me errors. -In doing research through the Open Office help guide it says "When you show an Impress presentation, the embedded sound or video on the current slide plays automatically until it's over or until you leave the slide." The report mentions that they'd like the sound to play for several slides but this is not possible. In summary, there is an issue with certain files but not all of them cause an error when they are inserted either through the Insert selection in the drop down menu or through the right panel. A future test with the most recent operating systems and version of Open Office might yield further insight as well as looking into the audio files. There may be something embedded in the audio files themselves that prevent them from playing in Impress. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the issue.
