In Writer, I click Insert -> Picture -> From File. This image is 656x455 and the paper size is a standard A4 size. Yet this image fills up the entire width of the page. This image is a scan of waterslide decals to a vintage Buck Rogers starfighter plastic model. I scanned this as a backup because it's possible that the decals have aged too much. I scanned them with something between 100-300dpi. But the dpi should only enhance the image quality, not the size of its dimensions. I've used Writer for decal printing before with no problems.
