Writer fails to correctly save .doc files.
When I try to read any .doc file, I think it is any .doc not just the ones I
have recently created, Writer opens with a message that the file is now a
word97 file.
Sorry I have no screen snap shot but I changed to an older version of
OpenOffice.
If you close the Writer after attempting to open a .doc file, there is a locked
remnant version of the file I tried to open in the same directory. Only way to
get rid of the segment is to delete that file(s) manually.
I swapped back to 4.1.5 and everything works.
Problem found when I tried to open a .doc file, something I had done previously
without error, with MicroSoft Office.
No matter what I tried I could not move a text file from Open Office to
Microsoft.
