--- Comment #7 from Gladys <[email protected]> --- OS: Windows 10 Enterprise Version: AOO417m1(Build:9800) - Rev. 46059c9192 The issue related to ".pptx file graphics/colors inaccurate conversion in Impress" has been reproduced in the last OpenOffice version. When opening a *.pptx using OpenOffice Impress, shapes (circles, rectangles, etc.) are moved upwards, 'line arrow' or 'curve arrow' are displayed like 'elbow arrow' and font colors are missing, so 'Automatic' font color is applied to all the text. Please, see the attachment: attachment 86772 This has been compared against LibreOffice Impress, and using LibreOffice the shapes (circles, rectangles, etc.) are only slightly moved rightward, 'line/curve arrows' are displayed properly and font colors are not missing. Please, see: attachment 86773 and attachment 86774 Additionally, it was noticed that LibreOffice allows us to save files as *.pptx while OpenOffice only allows us to save files as *.ppt; I don’t know if the fact that LibreOffice allows to save files as *.pptx has some relation with why LibreOffice open *.pptx files with more accurate conversion, but the user experience with OpenOffice could be improved if there is a more accurate conversion by trying to keeping font colors and decrease the fact that shapes are moved forward. I second [email protected]'s comment about a message telling us that ‘there is likely to be compatibility issues when opening non OO file’ will be helpful, but if there could be a way to have a better conversion when opening a *.pptx file with OpenOffice Impress, will improve the user experience considering that when users are looking for presentations in internet as a part of any research, the presentations use to be PowerPoint files. A workaround that was found in order to open a PowerPoint presentation (*.pptx) with more accurate conversion using OpenOffice Impress was: saving a *.pptx presentation as *.ppt, and then opening the *.ppt file with OpenOffice Impress. (Could be other issues about opening *.ppt files like the one mentioned in the issue id: 121973 though) Please, see below the steps to reproduce the issues and the workaround REQUIREMENTS: ============= - Windows 10 enterprise OS - Have .pptx presentation that contains: * Shapes (e.g. circle) that encapsulate any text * Line arrow or curve arrow * Different Font colors As example see the attached file: Test_conversion_in_Impress.pptx (attachment 86775) STEPS: ====== 1. Download the Test_conversion_in_Impress.pptx file 2. Open the pptx with Power Point and notice that the presentation contains different font colors, shapes and arrows 3. Close the pptx file 4. Open the pptx file with OpenOffice Impress - Select the .pptx file - Right click on pptx file -> Open with -> Choose another app -> OpenOffice Impress 5. Notice that shapes were moved upwards, font colors are missing and elbow arrow is displayed instead of line/curve arrows. WORKAROUND: ============ 1. Open the .pptx (2007-365) file with PowerPoint 2. Save as .ppt (97-2003) file - File -> Save as -> Browse -> Save as type = PowerPoint 91-2003 Presentation(*.ppt) -> Click 'Save' button 3. Close ppt file 4. Open .ppt (97-2003) file with OpenOffice Impress - Right click on ppt file -> Open with -> Choose another app -> OpenOffice Impress 5. Notice that shapes are not moved upwards (at least it is not noticeable), font colors are kept and line/curve arrows are displayed properly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the issue.
