Could you try to use the latest ORC versions, [~hao.duan] ? It could be one of
old fixed issue.
FYI, according to the Apache ORC community has 3 year support plan, Apache ORC
1.7.x and 1.8.x reached EOL already. There is nothing for us to help for those
old versions.

If you can provide a reproducer with ORC 2.2.1, it would be the best.
