devmadhuu opened a new pull request, #11917:
URL: https://github.com/apache/ozone/pull/11917

   ## What changes were proposed in this pull request?
   This PR is the sub task of parent JIRA : and handles SCM’s capacity-based
placement filters nodes for the requested storage type, but then compares the
remaining candidates using their overall usage. This can prefer a node that is
nearly full on SSD because it has plenty of free DISK space.
   **For example:**

   ```
   Candidate | Overall usage | SSD usage
   DN1           |     10%             | 95%
   DN2          |      50%            | 5%
   ```

   When comparing these candidates for an SSD request, placement should prefer
DN2.
   **This PR:**
   - Passes the requested storage type through the shared node-selection
methods.
   - Uses the existing per-storage-type metrics when capacity-based placement
compares candidates.
   - Retains overall-usage comparison when no storage type is provided.
   - Preserves the existing selection behavior of random and topology-based
policies.

   The existing method signatures remain available. No configuration, protobuf,
or persisted-data format changes are introduced.
