Rather than trying incremental ports, can we just ask the OS for a free
one, eg:
```
private int getFreePort() {
ServerSocket ss = null;
try {
ss = new ServerSocket(0);
return ss.getLocalPort();
} catch {
...
} finally {
if (ss != null) {
ss.close();
}
}
```
