A few updates: This topic has been discussed in the Polaris community sync on December 11th 2025. But the community is now focusing more on "external" principals (as opposed to "federated" principals). In short: 1. Federated principals would be persisted in Polaris, while external ones would not. 2. Federated principals would be compatible with Polaris default authorizer, while external ones wouldn't.
