Xinyu Tan commented on RATIS-2097:
----------------------------------

[~szetszwo] Hi, I have completed the related code and added the corresponding
tests. From a compatibility perspective, enabling or disabling this parameter
should not affect the recovery of the metadata entries that have already been
written to disk. Therefore, it seems that adding a special condition during the
write process should suffice. If there are any corner cases that I haven't
considered, please let me know.

> The metadata entry feature, added by RATIS-352, is for persisting the commit
> index. Then, a server can be recovered even if a majority of servers are
> dead. This feature may not be needed for some applications.
