I ran the test 100 times and it did not fail anymore with the following patch.
r114_20170909.patch:
- resets server proxy in handleIOException.
- It also restarts leader if NO PROGRESS is detected in the test. However, it
did not happen for all the runs.
- The patch as well has some code refactoring and adds debug messages.
