Gradle supports it but there's a problem with our complicated Gradle build that 
is preventing us from proceeding without digging deeper.  I wanted to do this 
here: LUCENE-10202 – see [Dawid's 
comment|https://github.com/apache/lucene/pull/411#issuecomment-950587825] in 
the PR.

Andy way, once a separate SolrJ module is created in SOLR-15342 then this will 
be less of an issue.
