Ilan Ginzburg created SOLR-15805: ------------------------------------ Summary: SolrCloud node can be zombie with some startup exceptions Key: SOLR-15805 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-15805 Project: Solr Issue Type: Bug Security Level: Public (Default Security Level. Issues are Public) Components: SolrCloud Affects Versions: main (9.0) Reporter: Ilan Ginzburg
In {{SolrDispatchFilter.init()}} (all Solr versions), when {{CoreContainer}} is created (call to {{{}createCoreContainer(){}}}), if an exception is thrown that is not an {{Error}} (for example, a {{{}SolrException{}}}), the issue is logged {{"Could not start Solr. Check solr/home property and the logs"}} but the {{init()}} method does not fail and the node is left in a non functional state until it is killed by some external mechanism. I suggest to change this here and treat all exceptions the way we treat errors and throw from {{{}SolrDispatchFilter.init(){}}}.
