TestDistributedTracing is something I really like; particularly the
"MockTracer" which is not a mock but an in-memory OpenTracing tracer
implementation that tests can assert. I'm dubious we need to truly test OTEL
beyond a hello-world integration test; OTEL has its own tests surely ;-). I
hope the OTEL system has something similar to MockTracer, or else we can make
one. I think it's a killer feature useful for distributed systems /
integration tests. It should obsolete TrackingShardHandlerFactory.
