epugh opened a new pull request, #1711: URL: https://github.com/apache/solr/pull/1711
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-16842 # Description this removes `bin/solr version` but preserves `bin/solr -v` and `bin/solr -version`. This I think makes things more consistent... If the version tool did something more then put out the specific version ,then maybe I'd want to keep it... As is, we don't actually have a VersionTool or any tests for it.. # Solution Remove it as a official tool, but preserve the -v and -version commands. # Tests manual. I am hoping @Willdotwhite will run the `bin/solr.cmd` versions of the commands and confirm my edits worked! # Checklist Please review the following and check all that apply: - [ ] I have reviewed the guidelines for [How to Contribute](https://wiki.apache.org/solr/HowToContribute) and my code conforms to the standards described there to the best of my ability. - [ ] I have created a Jira issue and added the issue ID to my pull request title. - [ ] I have given Solr maintainers [access](https://help.github.com/en/articles/allowing-changes-to-a-pull-request-branch-created-from-a-fork) to contribute to my PR branch.
