Eric Pugh commented on SOLR-17468: ---------------------------------- Humm... I can't find any links on the dev mailing list... I suspect it was something we talked about in a community meetup, but never documented or maybe called for a vote on or other discussion on the mailing list. Bummer.... I'd love your input [~ctargett] on: 1) Ignoring the naming terminology, does the rest of the ref guide reorg make sense to you? I can break up the PR into the rearrange versus the naming. 2) Is there any appetite to pursue this idea of renaming it.... [~gus] pointed out to me that lots of folks run really large setups that are definitliy "user managed" and most definitionly not "standalone". Part of my goal is to come up with the name for the flag to start Solr not in cloud mode. It's?? I did some brainstorming online and got these suggestions: Solr Detached Signifies that the servers are detached from a unified system. Solr Independent Clearly conveys the independence of each server. Solr Solo Emphasizes the independent nature of each server. bin/solr start --independent ? > Revamp Ref Guide to feature SolrCloud. > ---------------------------------------- > > Key: SOLR-17468 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-17468 > Project: Solr > Issue Type: Sub-task > Security Level: Public(Default Security Level.
