Houston Putman commented on SOLR-18618:
---------------------------------------
There are use cases where indexes are generated offline. Those indexes are
stored in a backup repo, along with the configSets that they were generated
with. This can't use the backup API because shards are generated separately and
installed with the InstallShard API. So it would be great to support installing
a configSet the same was a shardInstall is done. Basically the shardInstall is
a subset of the restore API, and this would finish out the feature so that
offline indexing users can fully control the installation/restoration of their
indexes.
> The ConfigSet upload APIs should accept a repository and location

> The ConfigSet API upload (both full configSet as well as single file) should
> accept a repository and location (local, s3, gcs, etc) to upload from in
> addition to the zip/raw file it accepts today in the request body.
