Josh Rosen commented on SPARK-14519: ------------------------------------ Given that Scala 2.12 hasn't been released yet, I think that our goal is to make sure that the current APIs will be capable of cross-building for 2.12 once it is released. Therefore, I don't think that we need to halt the code freeze to wait for other libraries to cross-publish; we only need to make sure that we haven't committed to any decisions that back us into a corner / would require API breakage in order to support 2.12 (in SPARK-14643, we were originally afraid that 2.12 would require breaking changes to certain APIs, but came up with a solution which preserves compatibility). > Cross-publish Kafka for Scala 2.12.0-M4 > --------------------------------------- > > Key: SPARK-14519 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-14519 > Project: Spark > Issue Type: Sub-task > Components: Build, Project Infra > Reporter: Josh Rosen > > In order to build the streaming Kafka connector, we need to publish Kafka for > Scala 2.12.0-M4. Someone should file an issue against the Kafka project and > work with their developers to figure out what will block their upgrade / > release. -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.3.4#6332) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: issues-unsubscr...@spark.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: issues-h...@spark.apache.org
