It seems really strange to add support for this specific case, when it is
doable via UDF. I'm going to close this as won't fix for now until we hear a
stronger argument for it.
On a related topic, I think it'd be useful to have general support for
array_exists that takes in a function as input, but that would require allowing
lambda in SQL!
