This is amazon EMR; they've got their own releases of things, including forked 
JARs. It may be that they've modified one of the libraries and now it's not 
linking ... that does happen.

I think from an ASF perspective, this is going to have to be a cannot 
reproduce: it's not ASF binaries that are playing up. I'm going to close it as 
such. If you can replicate it on ASF spark installation using s3a:// as the 
filesystem client URL, reopen it as it may be something that could then 
possibly be tracked down.
