Nicholas Chammas commented on SPARK-2004:
-----------------------------------------

I recently had a [related
discussion|https://github.com/apache/spark/pull/3564#issuecomment-67786877]
with [~joshrosen] about this, and I think this work is very important.

One thing I'd add to your deployment matrix is different versions of the
languages Spark supports:

* Various language versions
** Java
*** 6
*** 7
*** 8
** Python
*** 2.6
*** 2.7
*** PyPy (unofficial)
*** 3 (eventually?)
** Scala
*** 2.10
*** 2.11

>
> This is an umbrella JIRA to track QA automation tasks. Spark supports
> * several deploy modes
> ** local
> ** standalone
> ** yarn
> ** mesos
> * three languages
> ** scala
> ** java
> ** python
> * several hadoop versions
> ** 0.x
> ** 1.x
> ** 2.x
> * job submission from different systems
> ** linux
> ** mac os x
> ** windows
> The cross product of them creates a big deployment matrix. QA automation is
> really necessary to avoid regression.
