Dongjoon Hyun commented on SPARK-33772:
---------------------------------------

If you look at SPARK-24417 (Java 11), you can estimate what is coming to us.
For example, **47 patches** are invasive enough. Moreover, given that the
breaking nature of Java 11, SPARK-33772 (Java 17) may need more patches than
SPARK-24417 (Java 11).
> they are not too invasive.

SPARK-33772 will be open until the Apache Spark community finishes all
validations, [~h-vetinari]. Even after the community finish the validations, we
may need to fix more at Apache Spark 3.3.1 and 3.3.2. That's our expectation.
We don't want a partial backport and end up in a middle of nowhere.
