Nicholas Chammas commented on SPARK-6481: ----------------------------------------- Im willing to update this if there is a better approach, but AFAIK we *have* to assign the issue to the Spark user in order to change the issue's state. We then change it back to preserve the original assignee if any. If there is a better flow I missed, let me know and I would love to fix it. Otherwise I think this is what we're stuck with. An option might be to filter out these assignee changes in your email client, though I know that is suboptimal.
