Happens to me.

Using:
- GNU bash, version 3.1.23(6)-release (i686-pc-msys)
- Windows 8.1.

Workaround is to use cmd and do
{{github\apache\spark> bin\spark-shell.cmd --master local\[3\]}}

There are enough windows + git-bash users and unfortunately windows cmd is not 
that great.

So can this be reopened ?
