Andrew Or commented on SPARK-10984:
-----------------------------------

Thanks [~bowenzhangusa], but for this one I would like [~joshrosen] to tackle
since he wrote much of the original and is already familiar with the internals.
If you have time, we still need someone to work on
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-10985, which is another refactoring
task under the same umbrella issue. Does it sound like something you'd be
interested in?

> Simplify *MemoryManager class structure

> This is a refactoring task.
> After SPARK-10956 gets merged, we will have the following:
> - MemoryManager
> - StaticMemoryManager
> - ExecutorMemoryManager
> - TaskMemoryManager
> - ShuffleMemoryManager
> This is pretty confusing. The goal is to merge ShuffleMemoryManager and
> ExecutorMemoryManager and move them into the top-level MemoryManager abstract
> class. Then TaskMemoryManager should be renamed something else and used by
> MemoryManager, such that the new hierarchy becomes:
> - MemoryManager
> - StaticMemoryManager
