The documentation for std::getline is incorrect:
template <class Stream, class charT, class traits, class Allocator>
basic_istream<charT, traits>
getline(basic_istream<charT, traits> is,
<charT, traits allocator> str, charT delim);
where the second argument should be basic_string<charT, traits, allocator>& str
