Garbled text in forms

I have this problem in my own webapp, but it also happens on the mailreader
demo app.
1. Go to
http://planetstruts.org/struts2-mailreader/Registration_input.do?request_locale=en
2. Fill in the fields to register, except leave the last one empty, and for the
address enter some polish text, e.g. "Słowacja" the polish translation of
"Slovakia". (hopefully you can see it properly.. the second character is an "l"
with a bar through it)
3. Save
Bug: It complains properly about the lack of reply to address, but the polish
word you entered it now garbled (I see "SÅ‚owacja")
