OnKeyPress doe not work with datetimepicker

I want to call a javascript function on key press in datetimepicker. But it
does not recognise the event. I had the same issue with datetimepicker on
change. It was resolved by calling a init() function and using onValuechange
for datetimepicker.
But for on key press, how to capture this event?
