I think this will work fine - but you may be able to simplify the process by
first pushing the `main` branch and making it the GitHub default branch. Then
you can remove all references to `master` from the files in this PR, and merge
it directly into `main` branch. Once that's done, you can permanently delete
the `master` branch from GitHub.
