        Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Word Processor goes into confusing UI loop when
                    encountering a corrupt file
    Classification: Application
           Product: Word processor
           Version: OOo 3.3
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows Vista
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P3
         Component: ui
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]

When Open Office 3.3 decides that it cannot read a particular .doc file, it
goes into a User Interface loop. The sequence is: (1) OO displays a message
saying the file is corrupt .... Should OpenOffice repair the file? Yes or No".
 (2) User decides to give up, so selects No. (3) OO displays a message saying
the file could not be repaired and therefore cannot be opened. (4) User says
OK (the only option). (5) The same as (1) as so on, probably for ever! The
only way out of this is for the user to select Yes at step (2). This results
in (6) a message "Read-Error Error reading file" and the user presses OK to
that. I contend that step (5) is incorrect and confusing as it makes the
user's choice at step (2) worthless. If the user says that they do not want
Open Office to try to repair the file, that should be the end of the story --
quit.

I assume that you do not need to see the file. Any Word file which OO cannot
read would presumably provoke the same fault.
