I created an external hive table: test
CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE test(id string) PARTITIONED BY (dt string);

then add partition;
alter table test add partition (dt='20140410') location '/data/20140410/';

 I can \d test in the tsql shell, but there is no query result as expected 
during:

select id from test where dt='20140410' limit 10;
