+1. I would like to commit this in two pieces. One is the compatibility code.
And one is the version upgrade. That way we can add the more guava flexible
version code to branch-0.9 without upgrading the hadoop dependency or guava
dependency. [~abstractdog], what do you think about that option? I would split
it into two jiras to better reflect what was done.
