One thing else to mention is the documentation that will go along with this.
To get started committers (and PMCs) will need to link their apache and github
accounts following the steps here

It did take about two hours once complete to have my apache affiliation show up
in github and a little why afterwords before tez repository write-access
permissions were granted.
