Remember the CN/SN can have wildcards too. I suspect those could make it 
difficult to use an efficient hash table :-/. If so, perhaps you need to have 
an optional domain name at least? [I think a hash table lookup is going to be 
required for efficient lookups with thousands / millions of certs].
