Thomas Jackson commented on TS-4471: ------------------------------------ Its actually an issue period. In 6.x the hostname was added to the hostdbinfo record always-- and the size of multicache wasn't increased accordingly-- so without the workaround you'll see (and [~zwoop] and I have both seen) crashes in hostdb-- specifically that RR records etc start going missing as the half-spaces in multicache get flipped too quickly. AFAIK this issue has existed always on the 6.x branch-- and is one of the reasons its been fairly slow to adopt-- hence the workaround. > Old hostdb configuration settings cause traffic_server not to start > ------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: TS-4471 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TS-4471 > Project: Traffic Server > Issue Type: Bug > Components: HostDB > Affects Versions: 6.2.0 > Reporter: Bryan Call > Assignee: Thomas Jackson > Fix For: 7.0.0 > > > Errors in the logs: > {code} > [May 18 20:42:55.266] Server {0x2b6cb3ed3340} WARNING: configuration changed: > [hostdb.config] : reinitializing database > [May 18 20:42:55.266] Server {0x2b6cb3ed3340} NOTE: reconfiguring host > database > [May 18 20:42:55.266] Server {0x2b6cb3ed3340} WARNING: Configured store too > small (actual=50331648 required=75612160), unable to reconfigure > [May 18 20:42:55.266] Server {0x2b6cb3ed3340} WARNING: unable to initialize > database (too little storage) > : [hostdb.config] : disabling database > {code} > After removing the hostdb config settings on the size, traffic_server was > able to start and recreated the hostdb file. -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.3.4#6332)
