Its actually an issue period. In 6.x the hostname was added to the hostdbinfo 
record always-- and the size of multicache wasn't increased accordingly-- so 
without the workaround you'll see (and [~zwoop] and I have both seen) crashes 
in hostdb-- specifically that RR records etc start going missing as the 
half-spaces in multicache get flipped too quickly. AFAIK this issue has existed 
always on the 6.x branch-- and is one of the reasons its been fairly slow to 
adopt-- hence the workaround.
