I'm closing this as stale and unactionable. This is an umbrella of several loosely related test-suite wishes from 2020 (adopt Python f-strings, support whitespace-insensitive gold comparisons, deal with mixed carriage-return/line-feed and line-feed endings in gold files, and provide a tool to help author gold files with escapes). Three of those asks were filed against the external reusable-gold-testing-system project on Bitbucket (issues 15, 16, and 17), which is outside this repository, and ATS test tooling has since moved toward proxy-verifier. There is no completion criteria or pull request tracking this here, and the issue has had no activity since the author noted in 2020 that he hoped to revisit it. If any specific item is still wanted, please open a focused issue describing the concrete behavior and the test it would affect.
