This is an extension of the changes that are made in YUNIKORN-876. The main
leaks were fixed in that change. Further analysis showed that some minor leaks
were not fixed by that change. The original fix also exacerbated an existing
minor leak.
The simplified code includes dumping the shim cache state as part of the DEBUG
log. No leaks were found using that dump during numerous tests.
