I tried strace, and saw that mbsync stumbled over a file in this maildir that was zero sized. This for sure happened due to a hard freeze of my computer and due to the fact that I use XFS. Mbsync should better report that error, though. Here is the corresponding strace output: [pid 2230] write(1, "P"..., 23Pushing new messages...) = 23 [pid 2230] open("/home/scorpion/eazymail/outbox/cur/1217394170.31839_7.dose,U=5 285:2,S", O_RDONLY) = 8 I deleted this file and now mbsync works again.
