Description · The scope of the developer role involves significant development effort working in a small application development group deployed globally. · Seeking an experienced, hands-on Java developer with up-to-date knowledge of the latest development tools. · Initial focus is on maintaining and enhancing existing production applications supporting Equity Research, running under UNIX/LINUX and based on Java/WebLogic/PERL with interaction with Sybase databases. · The role involves significant third-level application support and contact with Equity Research staff, research users within the investment bank, selected vendors and in some cases customers of the investment bank. · The role will provide exposure to many aspects of the Equity Research business and should provide good opportunity for continued learning. · The role will involve participating in several SDLC phases. The candidate should be geared towards leveraging the existing framework. · The candidate should be a hands-on developer in the Construction phase and able to participate in the System Integration Test phase. Qualifications · Minimum of 3-4 years of experience out of which 2 years experience is in application development in the Financial Industry. · Hands on coding and Multi-tiered application design experience with Java (3 yrs), Object Oriented Design/Programming (2 yrs+), Sybase or equivalent (2 yrs+), J2EE (2yrs+), SQL, HTML, JavaScript & XML. · Ability to plan and organize the work so that it is efficient and effective and allows service to be delivered promptly and reliably. · Strong written and oral communication. Good team player. · Strong system design skills. · Self starter and able to prioritize & multi task between several issues. · Flexibility to work off hours (with staff in Asia and Europe).
