Position: Senior QA engineer (Candidates MUST be "Rock Stars" to work at this
company)
Location: Emeryville, CA
Duration: 6-9 months (possible extensions, possible contract to hire)
Rate : $37on W2, - $42 on 1099
Responsibilities:
Have an update to the QA Engineer position. Please note the following changes
and please "re-direct" your sourcing efforts to find candidates with the
following: 1. Mercury Tools (QTP, LoadRunner) - this is more a "regression"
testing position - NOT an Automation Testing position as first thought. 2.
Candidate should have solid experience working in a complex, multi-tier,
web-based application, web services environment. 3. Client "strongly prefers"
the following skills: Testing experience in Java/J2EE environment; Javascript,
AJAX, Flex, thorough orientation in RDBMS - SQL, proficient in a Unix/Linux
(VMWare is a plus). Please do the needful to find us some good candidates for
this requirement as quickly as you can. Also -
Perform Senior QA engineer tasks for testing a complex web-based application
and its associated components developed using Service Oriented Architecture.
Demonstrate experience and leadership in software testing methodologies,
testing approaches and planning, QA processes, defect and metrics tracking.
Work to ensure that developed products meet design specifications and are
within total quality management limits and standards. Communicate with product
developers, technical operations and architects on product issues.
a.. Define, Develop and Execute Test engineering tasks, which include
reviewing product requirements and analysis, executing test plans and test
cases, monitoring/analyzing Test results, collecting Test metrics and
conducting Test reporting.
b.. Function and interact across teams in a large organization to execute
multiple tasks/assignments simultaneously with input from several resources.
c.. Provides constructive feedback about the consistency and depth of the
requirements.
d.. Develops and Improves testing methods and processes and overall quality
of testing deliverables.
e.. Develops and executes test plans to perform all aspects of quality
assurance, including functional, regression, and system testing
f.. Identifies and communicates issues/risks applying technical and root
cause analysis skills.
Requirements:
a.. 7+ years of Testing experience with strong background in Software
Quality assurance.
b.. 5+ years of Testing software in a complex, large, scalable, distributed
environment (SOA architecture a plus)
c.. 5+ years of Testing experience for multi-tier web based applications
built using JAVA/J2EE technology stack.
d.. Good understanding of web based service-level interaction, able to
debug/trace low level HTTP(s) data interchange.
e.. Experience with server configuration, environment setup and debugging
skills. VmWare a plus.
f.. Thorough orientation in RDBMS concepts, SQL, stored procedures, and
awareness of schema and data optimization principles. Experience with Oracle
and Sybase a plus.
g.. Highly proficient in a Unix/Linux environment. Knowledge of any
scripting language a plus.
h.. Excellent knowledge of Internet/Web technologies, such as web browsers,
Java, AJAX, HTTP, HTML/XML, JavaScript , CSS, XSL/XSLT, XPATH etc.
i.. Some past development experience is desirable.
Strong Plus:
a.. Writing test automation code in Java - preferably using open source
tools.

a.. Passion for testing and the ability to work independently on diverse
problems.
b.. Superior analytical and problem solving skills.
c.. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
d.. Diverse interests and a passion for technology.
e.. Outstanding interpersonal skills, written and verbal communications
f.. Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
g.. Driven to meet aggressive milestones
h.. Motivated to produce robust, high-performance software
i.. Minimum 7 years of software quality assurance experience in which at
least 5 years in web based applications.
j.. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
