THIS PERSON SHOULD UNDERSTAND DATA FLOWS, DATA QUALITY, DATABASE STRUCTURES, DATA MODELING ETC. THEY MUST HAVE STRONG SQL SKILLS. THE ABILITY TO CREATE VERY COMPLEX SQL QUERIES, JOINS ETC. THIS PERSON MUST HAVE STRONG BA SKILLS AS WELL. ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY WITH BUSINESS USERS, DEVELOPMENT AND QA. This is a BUSINESS ANALYST/DATA ANALYST POSITION. NOT JUST A DATA ANALYST POSITION. The Business Analyst/Data Analyst position will support the Business Tools and Services (BTS) Team for the Wholesale Internet and Treasury Solutions business of the Wells Fargo Bank. Business Tools and Services build web and database applications to serve the needs of the Wholesale Banking. The ideal data analyst candidate will be a natural numbers person with strong Transact-SQL skills who can answer business questions by directly interrogating data resident on SQL Server and Oracle Databases. The candidate should have experience working with complex, multi-tiered database environments. Financial industry experience is a plus. This is a supporting role. The position will require the data analyst to have strong communication and SQL skills. The data analyst will work with business analysts and partners to scope out the analytical request, work with the programmers to get a better understanding of the database and data structure, use Transact SQL to quickly become an expert on the data and then fulfill the report requirements in a format requested by the business analyst or business partner--all with little guidance. Examples of typical analysis request are data flow diagrams, ERDs, UMLs, analytical reports, trends analysis, data extracts. You will be working in a fast paced, AGILE development environment; with business partners in many different lines of business; and will be investigating very complex databases and web applications. Be prepared to demonstrate that your knowledge of SQL and Pivot Tables. Can you answer yes to the following questions? 1. I understand OPENQUERY, Linked Servers and feel very comfortable with SQL 2005 Management Studio. 2. SQL is like a second language to me. 3. I understand the difference between Waterfall and Agile development environments. 4. I pride myself in being able to communicate well with both programmers and business partners. 5. I can translate raw data into highly readable and professional reports. 6. I can author an ERD of a complex database structure or if provided one, can easily write SQL to answer business questions. 7. I have no problems working in an open desk environment. The following are pluses: Wells Fargo experience, especially in Wholesale Banking. Experience with SharePoint, Reporting Server and Business Intelligence are also nice to have.
