Position: Jr. System Engineer Location: Charlotte, NC Duration: 1-year Start date: November 2nd Rate: $32/hour Jr. System Engineer in Charlotte, NC for a 1-year project! Job Description: Systems Engineer for network security device testing and certification activities supporting merger integration for Firewalls (I0021321), Security Monitoring (I0023118), and NAC-ACS (I0023107) projects. Responsible for support of testing and certification activities for the integration of selected go-forward network security systems for the combined enterprise. The successful candidate will be well-versed in the deployment, configuration, integration, support, and administration of routers, switches, firewalls, and IDS devices in both appliance and server forms, as well as the application of testing and certification strategies in large enterprise network environments. Significant recent experience with Cisco routers, Cisco switches, and Check Point firewalls is required, along with a track record of proven expertise in the implementation and integration of complex network configurations. CCNA (or higher) certification is required. Check Point certifications (CCSA, CCSE) strongly preferred. Responsibilities: Assist senior staff in developing, documenting, installing, configuring, and testing network security infrastructure systems in a controlled network lab environment. Coordinate lab activities and support remote staff by providing remote hands-on services in the network certification lab. Support implementation of logical and physical network structures according to design specifications. Work as a member of a geographically diverse team of experts to test and certify large-scale network security solutions utilizing numerous advanced technologies across a global enterprise environment. Analyze and assess network security infrastructure systems and identify gaps leading to potential improvements. Create scripts, employ tools, develop automation techniques, and pursue ideas to increase the manageability, efficiency, capability, capacity, performance, and security of network security infrastructure devices and systems. Participate in the creation of detailed component-level documentation including functional requirements, test plans, network diagrams, communications diagrams, configuration documents, support documentation, training materials, and project documents. Help determine business unit or technical needs for certification and testing requirements. Other duties as assigned. Requirements: This position is accountable for meeting the company's Core Competencies and any additional divisional competencies. Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Computer science, along with 3 to 5 years of experience in the installation, testing, maintenance and integration of network systems and network security solutions, or a combination of equivalent education and work experience. Strong knowledge and experience in the use of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other common network protocols and applications. Moderate knowledge and experience in the areas of IP routing, switching, and load-balancing. Moderate experience with network security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and wireless LAN systems. Familiarity with network automation techniques and solutions. Significant experience with enterprise networks spanning multiple business functions and geographic locations. Experience with system administration processes and practices on both Unix and Windows systems. Moderate knowledge of Wireless networking, proxy technology, and network appliances in a UNIX/Linux environment. Strong background in network and/or network security systems, including familiarity with products from leading vendors in the enterprise security market. Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM.
