Job Requisition Name: NC - Unix Systems Administrator Number: 8695 Job Requisition Template: Systems Administrator - Unix - Intermediate* Number of Openings: 3 Start Date: 9/20/2010 End Date: 12/31/2010 Primary Skills: UNIX # of Years Required: 4-6 Secondary Skills: Distributred Server # of Years Required: 0-2 Job Purpose/ Description: • Performs UNIX system administration for clustered AIX Servers running HACMP and dynamic LPARs with fiber attached SAN storage, as well as clustered Solaris servers running Veritas or Sun cluster technology with SAN attached storage. • Performs Solaris/Linux system administration for application servers, e.g., Apache Web and WebLogic. • Plans and supports enterprise-wide application implementations, e.g. Solaris, Apache, and WebLogic. • Works more independently on systems administration tasks of moderate risk to the environment. • Identifies and recommends process improvements to provide more effective troubleshooting of moderately complex hardware and software problems. • Interfaces with cross-functional Information Technology (IT) staff / teams to ensure the maintenance of a secure systems environment, as well as the implementation of effective data recovery procedures. • Produce project plans and progress reports, as required by management. Tasks and Responsibilities: Major responsibility will be to support the Engineering team on a project to convert Unix authenication from local/LDAP/NIS infrastructure to a tool that uses Active Directory authentication. Required education/experience: • BS or technical institute degree / certificate in Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education, technical designations and work experience. • Approximately 3 to 5 years of related experience in IT functions. • Good working knowledge of IT industry and its role in supporting business applications. • Can operate independently in handling moderately complex systems administration tasks. • Good understanding of project management disciplines.
