Senior Software Development Contractor (Java Developer) Location: Denver, CO
Type: Contract/6 mos. with extensions Rate: $35/hr C2C ** *GENERAL PURPOSE *** The Senior Software Development Contractor role typically requires 7-10 years of experience in software development. A strong understanding of the Agile/XP software development methodology is required. Position follows disciplined software development practices. Up-to-date on current and best practices and technologies related to software development and release management. Relies on extensive technical experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. *SUPERVISION RECEIVED: *** This individual works under the direct supervision and direction of the Technical Director of Software Development or the Manager, Software Development. The position will report in a matrix format to the IT-PMO team. *ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*** This individual will write and maintain production hardened software in JAVA/ J2EE. This software will be used in conjunction with Web Services and Oracle RDBMS. Moreover, this person must be able to work under the direction of a PM utilizing a matrix management arrangement, and under the guise of an Agile Software Development Methodology. All software architecture decisions are to be made in the direction of SOA. *DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*** *Education and Experience: *** (A) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or Mathematics. Masters Degree in the previously mentioned disciplines preferred. Ø Minimum of 7 years professional software development experience Ø 3-4 years experience in a Java consultant or staff augmentation role Ø 1-3 years *telecommunications industry experience* Ø 3-4 years experience with Java/J2EE Ø 3-4 years experience with UNIX Ø 2-3 years experience with *BEA WebLogic development, including both WLI and WLP* Ø 2-3 years experience with Oracle and SQL Server RDBMS Ø 2-3 years experience with Java Swing or JSP Preferred Experience:Spring, Eclipse, JUnit/Cactus, Ant, Hibernate, Web services, Subversion and use of continuous software integration software (e.g., Bamboo), JAVA Scripting. *NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*** Ø JAVA / J2EE Ø UNIX Ø Oracle and SQL Server * * *SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS *** Ø Knowledge of SOA Ø Agile Software Development Methodologies Ø Excellent written communications Ø Strong Verbal Skills Ø Broad-based knowledge of Java coding and best practices ** *WORK ENVIRONMENT *** Ø The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a consultant encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
