Responsible for troubleshooting server problems as reported by users. Supports web access and electronic messaging services and maintains a secure systems environment. Primary role is to provide support for Microsoft Active Directory and other Windows Server technology as well as Linux Server technology. Responsibilities/Essential Functions 1. Monitor and maintain server farm (~900 servers). 2. Administration of Active Directory. 3. Administration of Microsoft server platforms - 2003, 2008 and 2012 servers. 4. Administration of e-mail accounts/servers (Exchange 2003/2010/Office365). 5. Install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches. 6. Develop scripts or tools for automating administrative tasks. 7. Manage and maintain web servers using Microsoft IIS. 8. Support internal and external DNS servers. 9. Assist in supporting system backups and related infrastructure. 10. Provide weekly status reports of work related activities. 11. Serve as escalation point for Support Services on an as needed basis. 12. Contribute technical resources on assigned IT projects. 13. Work with Engineering and Architect teams to develop standards for server configurations. 14. Identify procedures that can be enhanced for increase efficiency. 15. Monitor help desk application for support requests and/or as assigned by department manager. 16. Develop working knowledge of storage area network. 17. All other duties as assigned. Position requirements 1. College degree preferred in CIS/MIS programs or equivalent combination of technical training and experience. 2. 5+ years relevant experience supporting servers. 3. 2+ years’ experience with Microsoft Active Directory. 4. Ability to manage servers in a clustered environment. 5. Capable of working with rack mount and blade servers 6. Capable of identifying/troubleshooting servers, communication, and storage issues. 7. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures. 8. Support of Windows operating systems 9. Knowledge of how to secure operating systems. 10. Experience with Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2012. 11. Thorough understanding of Windows security, rights, and groups. 12. Thorough understanding of Microsoft Active Directory. 13. Experience with Linux, and UNIX operating systems and able to work using CLI. 14. Basic understanding of Spacewalk and Kickstart 15. Understanding of Linux/Unix shell scripting 16. Basic understanding of LAN/WAN networks and capable analyzing pc to network connectivity issues (i.e. client/server architecture). 17. Capable of managing multiple tasks and objectives. 18. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - verbally & written, including technical writing. 19.
