Biasanya sih karena saat email diambil oleh program outlook express atau microsoft outlook dan belum semua terambil, koneksi putus. Karena koneksi putus, maka di server email, datanya dianggap belum terbaca karena konfirmasi dari komputer, belum diperoleh, sehingga kita terkoneksi lagi, maka email-email yang sama yang akan masuk lagi.
Untuk menanggulanginya, misalnya setelah secara periodik atau waktu tertentu, proses pengambilan emailnya di stop, misalnya, kalau menggunakan outlook express, kita klik Send/Recv dan saat menu Outlook Expressnya muncul, klik tombol Stop. Dengan cara ini, maka begitu perintah Stop di klik, setelah email terakhir masuk, komputer akan mengirim informasi ke server email, bahwa sampai saat itu, email sudah di download dan yang sudah di download, bisa dihapus dari server emailnya.
