I think it's a bad idea...


TIFF and JPEG support CMYK colors, PNG does not.
TIFF supports monochrome (Black & white), PNG does not.
TIFF supports Lab, Separation & DeviceN colors, PNG does not.
WMF is a vector format, PNG is a raster format. iText can do vector->vector.
